Library
The Tipton Carnegie Public Library was established in 1903 and is still thriving today. The library has on display 21 original Grand Wood lithographs, along with works by Marvin Cone and local artist Polly Kemp. The Soldiers Monument honoring Tipton residents who have given their lives serving our country in times of conflict, adorns the front lawn of the library grounds.
The mission of the Tipton Public Library is to provide a complete spectrum of information to the community through a variety of materials, appropriate technology and a well-trained staff. The Library Board of Trustees has a strong commitment to supply the materials and services needed by its community and to meet the foregoing mission of the Library on a free and continuing basis.
The Tipton Public Library is the only institution serving the entire community which has as its main objective, the acquisition of materials needed for personal information and entertainment and the provision of the necessary skilled staff and facilities to permit and encourage broad and effective use.
Tipton's Library offers a full range of programs for children and adults alike. The highly-attended Summer Reading Program is a highlight each year, and a number of writers and authors come to Tipton to read from their works and answer questions.
People of all ages enjoy the Tipton Public Library and are greeting by friendly and helpful staff.
As usual, this summer's summer reading program was full of programs for children of all ages. Here two girls hold a small critter at one of the special summer activities.
Families enjoy coming to the library. Each Wednesday during the summer reading program, Lunch Bunch was held, allowing families to picnic together, listen to stories, and complete a fun activity.
